Winter Memories

Winter has always been my favorite time of year at the cabin, when there is snow that is. I love pulling around tubes behind snowmobiles and 4-wheelers, and sledding is always a blast (at least all the times I went sledding and didn't break my tailbone). It is just so cozzie and peaceful during the winter months. I love the memory of Jeff and I sledding down the mountain across the street from the cabin and Jeff face planting in the road. It was a dirt road then so he got a mouthful of mud. If it had happened now, he would have knocked out all of his teeth. I remember one year there was about 6 feet of snow and we had to use the tractor to get to the cabin. My mom and I went for a walk one day and I almost felt claustrophobic because all you could see was snow walls on either side of you and blue sky. I sure hope we get a lot of snow this year. Our sleds are collecting dust

Food!!!

I have so many fond cabin food memories. Especially the giant breakfasts. Hash browns, eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, orange juice, etc...I'm hungry just thinking of it. And who can forget all of the endless junk food. So, call me crazy, but I'm not having any sugar during the month of November (Sundays are free days). So next weekend I'm going to bring fruits, chips, crackers, and stuff like that to snack on. Heather and I were also thinking that for lunches we would bring up lunch meat, cheeses, and crackers. As for dinner Friday night, we are open for suggestions. A pot luck of some sort with bring your own meat?? I think I'm up for some steak! I've heard that splenda does a brown sugar now, if that is true I'll probably whip up some caramel popcorn. We'll see. We are so excited to go up!

Hunting sisters, I've got one in my sights!

When I was somewhere between 11-13 years old Jeff got a B.B. gun that we took to the cabin and did a lot of target shooting with. It was our little introduction to mindless violence. One day I was doing my thing, goofing off by the garage that houses the 4-wheeler and fishing boat, when my arm started stinging really bad. I looked down and saw a nice B.B. sized welt on my upper left bicep, and there was Jeff looking at me in horror. He told me the gun went off while he was trying to cock it. I believed him and didn't tell my parents because, well I'm not sure why I never told them. I was known far and wide as an amazingly gifted tattle-tale. Anyway, years later, like 15 years later, Jeff and I were talking about that day and my not-so-little anymore, pip-squeak brother told me it hadn't been an accident after all. He SHOT me on purpose because he was mad at me for some unknown and of course, unjustified reason. We were at my parent's house when this conversation was taking place and needless to say, I tattle-taled on him on the spot and he didn't even get grounded. There is no justice in this cruel world.

Hey with the hunt season here 'til forever, let's just plan a weekend to go up there. I'm sure all the guys will be going up there pretty much every weekend anyways. Kelly's having his knee scoped October 23rd, but he can be a gimp up there just as easily as here! What do you think of having the Halloween party there? Let me know. Penny

Penny's Near Death Experience

Okay, I finally figured this blog thing out! Talk about near death experiences...any near me was near death trying to figure out how to join this blog! My near death experience was on the lake...Starvation Reservoir that is. We had rented one of those big 5-seater banana tubes & I think Kelly had just upped my insurance policy 'cause he tried to kill me! I don't remember who all was on the banana with me, but it was no life-saving flotation device as Kelly did figure 8's over & over again until the waves were about 20 ft. high, then proceeded to hit the biggest wave head-on. The next thing I remember was being under water so far I didn't know which way was up to the surface! Yikes! It's a good thing I had a Coast Guard approved life vest on to help me float to the surface! Apparently when we hit the wave, I flew (in the MOST lady-like way) pretty high in the air, then did a fabulous entry into the water! It must have scared Kelly because by the time I surfaced, he had already turned the boat around and was by my side! I was fine, but not all's fair in love & war because he wasn't brave enough to let me drive while he rode the banana!! Lot's of fun cabin memories!

Fishin!!!

My Family enjoys going out on the boat and doing a little fishin. Kaylee loves fishing, just don't ask her to eat the fish because she names them, and calls the fish her pets. That makes for a dramatic ending when it comes time to cook the fish.
Grandpa drives the boat and locates all the fish for us.
My dad has his own tricks to catch the fish.... always involving smelly jelly.
Jeff is pretty good at catching a fish or two. He trys to let the kids help.
I on the other hand just sit back and relax on the boat. I am not much of a fisherman. But look at that beautiful view behind me. Who wouldn't enjoy that?

Ok here is Adam's near death experience at the cabin. I think it was 2 years ago and the boys were out riding four wheelers. Adam turned around to look at Bradlee (he still had his thumb on the gas of course) and while he was turned around he drove right over the edge of the wash. He climbed out himself and then broke down into tears. He is so small he must have layed between the handle bars because all he had was a long scratch all the way down his back. It took my dad, grandpa, Shane, and I think Jeff C. ( I can't remember) to pull the four wheeler out. He was so brave he got back on after a couple hours and now he watches in front of him instead of behind.

Even Shane got into it. It's not a horse but he
had fun.
I don't think Adam ever left the four wheeler
last time we were up there.

Good Times!!!

These are some pictures that I took from our last cabin adventure. I have no idea what Haylee was doing in this picture, but I was sure she would want me to share it.
Penny was so happy she got the dishes done that she wanted to share her happiness with everyone, I am sure she would be sad if I didn't share this picture with everyone.
Lexi Warren, and Kaylee Clark were good friends.
Of course it just isn't a day at the cabin without Four wheelers. This is Adam Bradlee and Hayden getting ready for a ride.
Meghan participating in the four wheelin fun.

Creating Near Death Memories

The cabin has always been one of my favorite places to go. I love going all year round, but my favorite has always been the winter. When we were younger I tried to kill Jeff while tubing by making him go head first down the mountain across the street from the cabin. Half way down the tube stopped but he didn't. Don't worry, the sagebrush stopped him. Years later Heather tried to kill me while sledding when she broke my tailbone by pushing my off the sled. My mom got goosed in the behind by a giant stick while being pulled behind a snowmobile in a tube one year, (she probably almost died, too). Despite all the near deaths I look forward to going up this winter (and probably almost dying again in one way or another).

The who, what, where, when of the Cabin! Get informed.

Hey everyone!

I started this blog so we could all be on the same page with the going's-on of the cabin. Who is doing what, when, and so forth. One of the Chenoweth's problem's is that we don't want to go to the cabin by ourselves, but we never know when anyone is planning their cabin getaways or if they would like it for themselves and some friends for the weekend. I really hope that with the aid of this amazing, 21st century gadgit, we can communicate better and more efficiently about our beloved cabin. Soon this site will be buzzing with pictures and events. I hope you will all enjoy reading this blog, and are able to contribute to it. Give me all the feedback you want, send me pictures, whatever. I really hope this works.
